CALL FOR ARTIST

The Pendulum Gallery 2025

Each year, the Pendulum Gallery manifests as a sacred vessel for art that speaks to the delicate dance between human creativity and Earth's wisdom. For our 2025 exhibition at Boulder Mountain Guest Ranch, we seek visual artists whose work explores themes of balance, transformation, and our evolving relationship with the natural world. Opening on September 25th, this carefully curated sanctuary will gather pieces that invite viewers to contemplate their role in restoring harmony between ancient knowledge and future vision, personal healing, and collective awakening. As the central point in our grid, the gallery will represent the still point of the pendulum—perfectly balanced. Laid out to honor the directions that guide and guard the energies of the land, the gallery will offer a central altar space with opportunities to work with the sacred plant energies of Sage, Tobacco, Sweetgrass, and Cedar.

Each piece in the Pendulum Gallery will correspond to a gate holding the container for our balance. Please read the options carefully as you choose which gate most calls to your pieces.

FAQs

  • The gallery welcomes various mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, installation, and mixed media works. We're particularly interested in pieces that explore themes of ecological wisdom, Indigenous knowledge, personal transformation, and the delicate balance between human creativity and natural systems. While we appreciate all artistic expressions, works should resonate with Pendulum's mission of fostering connection between creativity, community, and the natural world.

  • The gallery space at Boulder Mountain Guest Ranch can accommodate works of various sizes, but we have specific limitations for wall-mounted pieces and floor installations. During the application process, we'll work closely with selected artists to ensure their work can be properly displayed within our space. Artists should be prepared to provide detailed dimensions and installation requirements for each submitted piece.

  • Our curatorial team reviews applications on a rolling basis, with final selections made eight weeks before the exhibition opening. Selected artists will be notified promptly and will work with our installation team to coordinate delivery and setup of their pieces. We encourage early applications to ensure proper consideration and planning time.

  • Yes, selected artists who are also retreat participants will have special access to the gallery during installation and throughout the retreat. We encourage artists to engage with visitors during designated times, sharing the stories and intentions behind their work.

  • While the primary purpose of the exhibition is to create a transformative experience for our community, works may be available for purchase. If you choose to make your work available for sale, Pendulum will handle transactions with a standard gallery commission. Detailed terms will be provided upon selection.
