Born from the fervor of the Opposition Gallery Series in 2016, Pendulum was established in the vibrant heart of Salt Lake City as a radical transformation of artistic gatherings.

What began as a powerful response to societal upheavals has evolved into a portal where art and activism converge, fostering a space where the canvas becomes a battleground for justice and human rights.

At Pendulum, we amplify the voices of the marginalized and the daring. Echoing Frida Kahlo's poignant words, "I never painted dreams. I painted my own reality," our community champions artists who use their creative expressions to confront and engage with critical social issues.

This commitment to showcasing art that challenges and provokes is a continuation of the spirit that sparked our origins as Opposition.

The ethos of dissidence, nurtured by influential figures like Angela Davis—who declared, "I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept"—is deeply embedded in every aspect of Pendulum.

This spirit drives our exhibitions, workshops, and installations, compelling our community to push the boundaries of traditional artistic expression.
